Revisiting old code...
So long long ago, back when I was into the whole online gaming scene. I got bored one weekend so a buddy of mine said, why not start working on a league website similar to CAL ( www.caleague.com ).. So I thought, why not? So I sat down and started working, a day and a couple 12 packs of mountain dew later.. I had a working league website, with most of the features it took CAL several thousand dollars and years to complete.
Now sure, the quality of the site was no where close to CAL's. It was the first time I ever attempted such a thing, normally I just wrote out custom content management systems..
It's been used a couple times since then, nothing too big, few tournaments, few leagues.....
Here recently, a gaming organization "Check 6" a DOTA community, and a little side project we are working on ( Gamebend ) decided they wanted to run a little league.. so instead of re-inventing the wheel and paying someone a couple thousand to build out a league site, they wanted to use mine.
No big deal, not like it cost me anything.
So they wanted a few extra features, and some bugs fixed before launch. So here I am, looking back at code a couple years old, and WOW I sucked.
This code is horrible, I laugh at myself every time I even attempt to work on it.
So now, I feel obligated to rewrite the entire thing, adding in many many more features and automations, and of course object oriented ( no where close to that in it's current state ).
So yeah, a couple years ago.. I sucked.
Now, i'm going to go cry in the corner and try to decipher what I was thinking when I wrote this :)
out!
