Last dive of the year?

Over the weekend ( Dec 1,2 ) I got to do a little diving. Our winter dive class were doing their open water check out dives, and me being a "helper" of the club got to hang out and make sure no one wandered over the ledge. About 15 feet past the edge of the water there is a ledge where the depth changes from about 8 feet to 100ft. Which is quite a drop for students, so I tried my hardest to keep them away from it. Also around the same area is a vertical shaft leading down into the chamber called "four doors". A open water student venturing into a cave on their first real world diving scenerio wouldn't be good either ;)

The first day, the water was 48 degrees or so and the visibility was 20-30 feet. Which is pretty good for Oronogo, of course we were the only ones stupid enough to be there.. but that's a whole other story. The air temp on day one was in the 30's, perfect weather for getting wet let me tell you... { sarcasm }. After they completed their dives and we did the "tours for pleasure and experience" we headed back up the long walk to the vehicles and had some lunch.

Day 2 was similar to day one, other then the weather decided to play some tricks on us. When we first arrived at the gates Sunday morning. The air temp was in the 60's! A good warm temp, almost perfect for diving. Unfortunately that didn't last for long. Shortly after paying our dues and getting ready to setup the clouds rolled in and it dropped 10 degrees and started pouring. Since we were getting wet anyways, we of course ignored the rain and went ahead with our dives. Day 2 was prety similar to day 1, after they did the skills we once again did the "tour for pleasure and experience" and headed back top side. This time however, the air temp dropped into what had to have been the early 30's.

Just a tad bit too cold to be standing in the wind, soaking wet....

So anyways, moral of the story is. If any of you ever take a dive course, or help out with dive courses like me. If all possible take the spring course ;)

On a positive note, i've started my rescue diver knowledge reviews, and only have 20 dives to go before I qualify to start taking the dive master course.
