I need to update this thing more frequently!

So i'm not the most active blogger!  Sew me!

Here in the last couple weeks,  I have been digging deeper, and deeper into the wonder that is the Google API.    One of my first projects?   A generic search engine in use on 9 websites currently.   Utilizing Google Custom Business Search as well as Yahoo Web Search ,  PHP 5 and  a few cuss words...  the product:   http://search.morningsun.net

The original was based off of a broken php5 script I found on the internet,   fixed it up,  re-wrote quite a bit to be scalable.. added in a yahoo web search.. as well as making it iPhone friendly... and sent it on its way.    The result I think turned out pretty well,   still has some tweaks to be made - mainly in refinements.

Aside from that -  I also get to dig into a Google Search Appliance here pretty soon... can't wait.   Always wanted to play with one of those since I heard they were on the market.

May 27 - May 30  I will be in San Francisco,  I get to attend Google IO!!!!!!    Can't wait,  it's going to be a blast.   Hopefully after that is all said and done,  I will have a much greater understanding of Google's vision and the API's they are cranking out.

Aside from work - not much has changed.   I did get to go diving last weekend,   106ft max depth,  47 degree water,  visibility was less then 5ft.   I was diving with a few locals,  and we decided to hit up the Lincoln diver sign.    The sign -  is in about 80ish feet of water -  and about 50-150 ft back into a cave.    Good times!

Back to coding!   When checking out the features wanted for a possible free-lance job.  One of the requests puzzled me.. never tried it before.. and that really bothered me.   So I immediately came home and dug in for the next hour or two.   After a little bit of searching,  and a little bit of tinkering..   I came to find out.. Plesk 8.3's API is WICKED.     I can now automatically add client accounts, ftp accounts, domains,  email accounts, email forwards, etc via PHP using the Plesk API.     While that isn't too spectacular by itself,   being able to offer those features automatically in web applications is wicked.    Theoretically -  I could write a drupal module - or a CMS that could manage a small to medium sized web hosting company with little trouble at all!

That's all I have,    bed time!
