The way ballots should be cast....

With all the news of fraud and what not coming out of the media here recently it's not difficult to see that the system needs changed.     This day in age there is absolutely no reason why we can't come up with a secure, fool-proof way to vote without fear of being turned away at the voting station.

My solution:

All states have drivers licenses and or photo identification cards.   All states have a database to look up this information and verify it.

An idea

While I admit I am no expert on the economy, energy conservation, renewable energy or any of that fun stuff.

Instead of dancing around the issue,  drilling for more of the same,   spending billions of dollars exploring.

Why don't we take some of that money we pour into Iraq and give it to gas stations across the country in an effort to add hydrogen refuelling stations?

Google IO - Part 1.1

After a brief lunch (  hit up the deli room and had a chicken sub )  and a trip back to my hotel room to drop off some stuff.   I came back and immediately ran over to the google gears booth to absorb more info.

Out of all of the stuff here,  Google Gears is the most interesting to me.   Google Gears has so much potential,  but i'm having problems coming up with practical applications in my field.

Google IO - Part 1

So as most of the people that would ever look at my site know.  I spent most of yesterday traveling to San Francisco to attend Google IO this week.

So far,  today I checked out the keynote and boy did it get the gears in my head turning.    Out of all of it,  the stuff that interests me mostly is "Open Social" and "Google Gears".     The possibilities are endless with these tools.

Iron Man

Katharyne and me went to the movies last night to see Iron Man.    I have to admit,  I was quite impressed.

It was the first action movie where Katharyne actually enjoyed it -  it was a perfect mix of action and comedy.

The only action movie I have ever been to where the crowd bust into laughter and applause multiple times throughout it.

Oh and based on the previews we are going to have a couple hilarious movies coming out this summer -  The Guru and  You Don't Mess with Zohan.

I got married

On May 8,  at 5pm Katharyne and I were married.

Yes yes I know,  what about May 23, 2009 our original date?    Well this one was just for logistical reasons -  we are still going to do the traditional ceremony / reception / honeymoon on our original planned date.

This time around,  we got married at the Morning Sun - my jobby.  It was a pretty funny ceremony,  all day time employees in attendance.

I will post some pictures and video on here when I get it!

Marriage license

So I went and applied for a marriage license today.  Now we get to wait 3 days,  then go back and turn in the worksheet - pay the 50$ -  and pick up the cert.

Now... to find someone to marry us.. hmmmm

Drupal

So a few days ago I sat down and started messing with drupal again.   I took the rockford template from Gatehouse and drupalized it in little time.

I spent quite a bit of time awhile back griping about drupal and theming, but when someone else does the design work it's actually quite easy.

Like I said before,  I fail at design......

Now.. back to module developement - which wasn't too hard the first time I did it with drupal 5.
